Owenisms, Lucyisms, and Jackisms

Adam and his parents were watching a basketball game this weekend. When they asked Owen if he was for the "red" team or the "white" team, he answered very matter-of-factly,
"Well, I'm for the coach actually."

I am proud to announce to the world that my daughter does speak English and is no longer limited to "alien talk" as I like to call it. Adam taught her to say "circle." It sounds more like, "cir-ca" when she says it. Not the most exciting word, I know- but I'm thrilled!!! (Her vocabulary now includes: Mama, Dada, and cir-ca.)

Jack is so excited that a Walgreens is being built near our house. He is fascinated each time we drive by and see the progression that has been made. When he was younger, he always got confused and called it, "Green Walls." I wish I'd never corrected him.

Circles are very important symbolically and literally. Totally up there with mom and dad.

I hope your kids are okay, I missed hanging out with you in nursery!

thanks for reminding me how John used to say "got-for" eventually he semi corrected it and would declare that he "got-for-got his toy" or whatever. We still ask him if he got for it, but at 13 he just rolls his eyes and moves on! LOL

It seems like any first words that come out of your kids mouths are exciting. I'm hanging in there, waiting for March Madness to be over, too. If only they didn't enjoy sports SO much it would be easier to pull them away.

I still remember when Aidan called a fire hydrant an "ida-buh" So cute.

When I was a teenager and my brothers and sisters were little, we used to get seriously yelled at if we EVER corrected their grammar. She had figured out the kids grow up and get all adult, by then, and didn't want anyone messing with her babies.

Miss me?

These are funny things your kids have said. Emily used to pronounce airplane as "ha-new". Go figure! We used to say she was saying the Japanes word for it.

New milestones are so fun but bring some sadness with them when you realize how quickly they grow up and change everyday. I don't doubt for one second that if Lucy wanted to she could say a whole lot, but unlike me, she knows how to keep her mouth shut. What a polite young lady you are raising.

Megs, what you have to realize is that Jack and Lucy learn vocabulary at a semi-average rate compared to their peers. Owen, on the other hand, is a very special case.

Isn't it fun the cute things they say? I love it. And we are all excited to get a Green Walls here too. Now THAT is way cute!!

Meghann, your blog is one of the few that i actually read every word because I am thoroughly entertained. I just read through your most recent 2 or 3 posts and was wishing there was more to catch up on :). Your kids are adorable and your writing sounds just like your talking. I miss you so much!! I'm so glad you started blogging. With all the fun things you do with your 3 little kids, you make it look so easy. We are going through a rough spot with the whole 3-kid thing. I'm hoping it's just a phase... :)

I love hearing what your kids are up to, I think it's so fun to glory in our kids funny moments and be able to cry, laugh and hurl (sorry, that was a Wayne's World flash back) together as moms. It's just nice to know that we all know how precious this time is, ya know? Even in all it's craziness!

I wish there was a way to capture all the cute things our kids say. I love not only what Owen says but how his voice sounds when he talks. When he first started to talk I remember telling you how adorable his voice was. Seriously he has the cutest little kid voice ever!
